These are the words of my Moon Musing poem, New Moon Maiden, which heralded the start of The New Snow Moon Ceremony and The Alchemical Journey into The Wild Unknown on Sunday, 18th January 2026.

Sometimes also called The Hunter’s Moon or The Harvest Moon, this is the Grandmother Moon under which you gather the seeds from the harvest you have sown in your life.

It is time for storing these seeds away until your are ready to plant them to flourish in the coming year.

This Moon Cycle ends at Samhain at the end of October, when the veils between the worlds are gossamer thin.

This is the time to remember and honour those we have loved who have passed through the veil.

SACRED IVY ENERGY ESSENCE

Ivy is associated with the Ogham Druidic Alphabet Letter of Gort, and the month of October. Ivy’s main theme is that of constriction vs freedom and growth, and resonates with the energy of Grandmother Spider and the theme of letting go and creating space.

Ivy has a fierce, determined feminine energy.

She connects with the search for the Self, for “inner wisdom”. Her wandering way of growing mirrors the wandering of the Soul desiring enlightenment.

Just as Ivy has the power to bind many trees together, so she can also restrict passage and ultimately smother and kill other Trees if left unchecked. She is a plant which requires support and yet also has the ability to link with others.

Ivy is also connected with immortality and eternal life, with revelry, and the magical power of the Faery Kingdom. It reminds us that clinging to just one tree, or one idea, or person is restricting and potentially damaging for both the host and the Ivy. If the host dies, then so does Ivy.

Working With The Truth

Weaves The Web represents the creative principle within all things. Her Moon Cycle falls in the month of October and is connected to the colour pink. She is The Guardian of the Creative Force in all things, and she teaches us how to create beauty and truth in tangible forms with our hands. She shows us how to work with arts and crafts to create our ideas and dreams in the physical world.

She is The Keeper of The life Force and instructs us how to create health and to access our spiritual potentials.

She is The Mother of the Creative and Destructive Principles, demonstrating how to destroy our limitations and to create anew.

She is also The Keeper of Survival Instinct, teaching us when to nurture our creations and how to grow beyond stagnation.

Like Grandmother Mother Spider who is so active at this time of year, she teaches us how to weave the web of our experiences… and not to get caught up in webs of our own making!

This New Strawberry/Growing Moon falls halfway through the Earthwalk of Deer (Sunsign Gemini) in The Flowering time. The full Moon of this lunar cycle climaxes two days after we move into Earthwalk of Woodpecker/Cancer on 21st June in The Long Days Time. It is a time associated with love, marriage and fertility.

The month of June is informed by The Sixth Clan Mother, Storyteller, whose colour is red. She is the Teacher of Truth and Universal Wisdoms.

In the Druidic Calendar, this Moon is known as The Horse or Mead Moon ~ a time or celebration and parties!

This is the third lunar cycle of true Spring. We are still in the time of illumination, now being influenced by expansion of awareness (Fire with Air). The initial uprush of Spring energies is beginning to slow down. The seeds have been planted and germinated and are ready to take the shape of fully grown plants.

Spring Equinox was yesterday and we have just entered into the first Cycle of true Spring with its fertile awakening. Sometimes also called The Egg Moon, this is the Grandmother Moon under which the solar energies are beginning to rise.

The Circle will celebrate this New Moon in the fresh, new budding energies of The Awakening Time of Falcon/Aries, with the Full Moon falling in the earthy, expansive energies of Beaver/Taurus in The Growing Time later in this lunar cycle.

As always, I will be interweaving ancient wisdoms, a Healing Journey Meditation, The Moon Breath Meditation, New Moon Crystal Healing and Ceremony to honour you and Grandmother Moon.

The Circle will celebrate the New Snow/Quickening Moon in The Cleansing Time of Earthwalk Otter (Aquarius), which then moves into The Blustery Winds Time of Wolf (Pisces) with Full Moon on 24th February.

On 20th January we moved out of the regenerative time of The Renewal Time into the Quickening energies of The Cleaning Time following the very first stirrings of new beginnings. We will be reflecting on the challenges, learnings and gifts offered by this time of this year.

February is informed by The Second Clan Mother, Wisdom Keeper. Her colour is non threatening grey and she is The Keeper of “honouring the Truth” and The Mother of Friendship.

The Gathering in is not simply of external bounty, but a recognition of the growth of the self ~ of all you have worked on so far this year, realising your own fruitful potential.

The Circle will celebrate this New Moon in the fullness of maturing Harvesting Time of Brown Bear/Virgo just before it turns into the introspective energies of The Falling Time of Crow/Libra.

September’s Full Moon has traditionally been called The Harvest Moon simply because this is the time of year to bring in the harvest of good things grown throughout the year. There is still hard work to do, but in a spirit of celebration of all that has been personally achieved to sustain us throughout the coming months when autumn turns to winter once more.

We have now moved out of the fiery energetic creative Ripening Time. The emphasis of The Harvesting Time is on a combination of earth/water energies. It invites trust in one’s feelings in a manner that leads to non-attachment and the simplicity of innocence. This takes us beyond the harvesting of the fruits of practical endeavour. It is a time of expanding awareness of the development of intuitive and spiritual energies beyond the physical, relating to feelings and emotions ~ remembering the healing power of returning to the playfulness of the child within. Falling Leaves time then takes us forward into the earth/air energies of consolidation and introspection, combined with the qualities of stimulation and refreshment found in new ideas.

December’s Moon is traditionally called The Cold/Oak/Quiet/Long Nights Moon as this is the closest Full Moon to the Winter Solstice and the darkest month of the longest nights and shortest days.

This will be the time to come to stillness and to enter into the spirit of thanksgiving.

Frost is a reminder of the death which the coming winter represents ~ yet, just as frost warms to water and flow, so life will return in the regeneration of springtime.

November’s Moon is traditionally called the Beaver or Frost Moon.

In two weeks’ time we will be moving out of the contemplative time of The Falling Leaves Time into the mysterious, twilight zone of The Frost Time, which holds the Ceremony of Samhain, the time when the veils are thinnest between the worlds ~ the time to remember and celebrate the lives of those who have passed before us. The emphasis of The Frost Time is on the preparing to shed what is no longer needed, to exercise adaptability so you can continue your personal growth when the time is right to regenerate.

This will be the time to recognise the impulses which have been hidden within, and support emotional endurance.

The Circle will celebrate both New and Full phases of this Moon in the fullness of maturing Harvest Time of Brown Bear/Virgo.

September’s Full Moon has traditionally been called The Harvest Moon simply because this is the time of year to bring in the harvest of good things grown throughout the year. Still hard work to do, but in a spirit of celebration of all that has been personally achieved to sustain us throughout the coming months when autumn turns to winter once more.

We have now moved out of the fiery energetic creative Ripening Time into the trusting, harmonious period of The Harvesting Time. The emphasis of The Harvesting Time is a combination of earth/water energies, inviting trust in one’s feelings in a manner that leads to non-attachment and the simplicity of innocence. This takes us beyond the harvesting of the fruits of practical endeavour. It is a time of expanding awareness of the development of intuitive and spiritual energies beyond the physical, relating to feelings and emotions ~ remembering the healing power of returning to the playfulness of the child within.

The Clan Mother, Setting Sun Woman, who governs the Ninth Moon Cycle of September has a special connection with the West of The Medicine Wheel, the home of the feminine principle. Her colour is green, and she teaches us how to come into alignment by living the truth. The West is sometimes called The Looking Within Place. It is the cave, home of introspective, receptive Bear ~ the place of personal answers.

August’s full Moon was traditionally called the Sturgeon Moon because the giant sturgeon of the Great Lakes and Lake Champlain were most readily caught during this part of summer, harbinger of a time of abundance. Sturgeon is also known as “the stirrer”, so take a look at what may be stirring in the depths!

We have now moved out of the flowing, feeling, harmonising qualities of the watery Long Days Time into the energetic creative Ripening Time of Salmon/Leo. The emphasis of The Ripening Time is on the need to trust one’s feelings and intuitions during the pain of change which may be experienced during the process of maturing. On a positive note, this also heralds a time ideally to take a rest, bask in the lazier sunny days before preparing for the work of harvesting in September.

I was absolutely overwhelmed by the positive responses of those who participated in the launch of the online Honour New Moon Meditation & Healing Circle in April, and so I’m delighted to announce my next one which will take place on Tuesday, 11th May at 9.00 pm in celebration of the new beginnings of the Flower Moon of May, also known as The Snake Moon and The Dancing Moon!

The beginnings of the New Flower Moon is in The Growing Time of Beaver/Taurus. Beavers are determined earth movers and builders, and warmly affectionate by nature. The energy supporting you at this time is earthy, strong, determined, and resourceful. It will enable persistence in your endeavours, and help you to manifest your dreams in the physical realm. 

These are such robust and dynamic energies to work with, especially as we all emerge out of our locked down states. We are being faced with living life in a new way, many people still living in the shadows of grief and loss. Taking memories of what we love forward with us and still stepping into the flow of life is a challenge. The earthy, determined energies of The Growing Time help to remove blocks from our way, and gift us the resourcefulness to know how to continue as we flow with the cycle of the year.
